Mathers joins Valley Businesses Give Back for 2013 Holiday Season

Mathers Construction is in the spirit of giving and has joined the Valley Businesses Give Back effort to raise money and gather donated food for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. In 2012, the collaborative collected 23,465 pounds of food and more than $4,000 for the Food Bank.The Mathers team collected more than 1,200 pounds of food surpassing the company’s goal for the effort.

The 2013 effort runs through Dec. 18.

“We try to do things to help in the community throughout the year,” said Teresa Gauldin, President and CEO of Mathers Construction. “Every family deserves to have a nice Christmas meal with their family, and we happy to do our part to make this a reality for families who need a little extra help this holiday season.”

Delphine Enterprise Center breathes new life into facility

A half-million-square-foot Waynesboro facility that had been sitting unused has a new lease on life again.

“It means a lot to get people back into this building,” said Rebecca Polan, the president of real estate and corporate services at Allied Logistics, which is part of the team that has purchased the old Mohawk building on South Delphine Avenue with plans to fill it up with manufacturing and warehousing operations.

Delphine Enterprise Management is partnering with Legacy Group Holding Corp., another local real-estate developer, to rehabilitate the 464,000-square-foot office, warehousing and manufacturing facility on South Delphine Avenue with convenient access to I-64 and I-81, railroads and international and regional airports. The facility will be renovated to accommodate users of all sizes.

Local developers purchase former Mohawk site, announce future plans

Delphine Enterprise Center, a real-estate holding company operated by Allied Logistics, has announced plans that will breathe new life into a key Waynesboro industrial site, bolstering a push to lure more skilled and high-tech manufacturing jobs to Central Virginia.

Mathers Team exec leads Waynesboro Y renovation

Steve Farmer remembers what pushed the Waynesboro YMCA to do something about outdated women’s locker room. It came the day that the Y arranged to take a group of women who had been raising concerns about the locker-room facilities for women on a tour of the men’s locker room.

“They were a little upset that the men’s room was so much nicer than the women’s. That’s when it hit that we needed to do something,” said Farmer, the vice president of operations at the Waynesboro-based Mathers Team and a member of the Y’s board of directors, who has played a key role in the ongoing $50,000 renovation project.

Mathers leads effort to build concession stand for youth baseball field

A project involving The Mathers Team, Linco Inc. and the Waynesboro Generals to build a concession stand for the new youth baseball field at North Park in Waynesboro is nearing completion.

“We read about the project in the newspaper where the City Council was having problems funding the concession stand. With the Major League Baseball grant for putting the lights and helping build the field, we thought it would ba a good opportunity for our group of companies, the Waynesboro Generals and Waynesboro Amateur Athletics, to impact the community by soliciting support to build a concession stand,” said David T. Gauldin II, the executive vice president of The Mathers Team, the co-owner of the Waynesboro Generals and a board member of Waynesboro Amateur Athletics, which runs the Generals, a summer college baseball team.
