Location: Staunton, Va.

Description: Mathers provided construction-management services on the project for the developer, Octagon Partners of Charlottesville.

The adaptive-reuse project transformed the former R.E. Lee High School in Staunton into an attractive, active-living center for seniors. 

The original 117,000-square-foot facility was designed by the area’s leading architect, T.J. Collins, in 1927. The structure is registered as an historic landmark which requires steps to preserve its historic integrity.
